The best performance mods for Minecraft
Automatic list of the most downloaded performance mods in the catalog: more FPS, less lag and faster chunk loading, with each one's loader and version.
If Minecraft stutters, performance mods are the first thing to install. They replace parts of the rendering engine and game logic with more efficient versions without changing gameplay.
This list is not written by hand: it is generated from the real downloads of mods in the catalog's Performance category and updates itself. Each page lists the loader, compatible versions, license and community reviews.
How to combine them
- On Fabric and Quilt, the usual combination is a rendering mod (such as Sodium) plus mods that optimize the internal server logic and chunk loading. Check on each page that they are compatible with each other.
- On NeoForge and Forge, many of these mods have their own version or equivalents; always use the file released for your loader.
- Do not install two mods that do the same thing (for example two rendering mods): they usually break.
- If you use shaders, see How to install shaders: Iris is designed to work with Sodium.
